Key Applications
How Bentonite is Used
Feed Additive (Feed Grade Bentonite)
Feed Detoxification Bentonite binds mycotoxins (aflatoxin, ochratoxin, zearalenone) in feed and the gastrointestinal tract of animals. This is especially critical for high-humidity regions where the risk of grain contamination with mold increases.
Improved Nutrient Absorption The high cation exchange capacity of bentonite (80–120 meq/100 g) improves the absorption of minerals and vitamins in the intestine. Weight gains increase by 8–12% in cattle, 6–9% in pigs, and 4–7% in poultry.
Diarrhea Prevention Adsorbs toxins and pathogens, reducing the frequency of intestinal disorders in young animals by 30–40%. Particularly effective for calves, weaned piglets, and broiler chickens.
Dosages:
- Dairy cattle: 150–250 g/head/day
- Fattening pigs: 30–50 g/head/day
- Poultry (broilers): 0.5–1% of feed mass
Target customers: Large feed mills, livestock holdings, premix producers, farms with 500+ head.
Soil Conditioner
Moisture Retention Bentonite absorbs water 8–12 times its own weight and slowly releases it to plant roots. Critical for arid regions (Central Asia, Middle East, North Africa) and sandy soils.
Soil Structure Improvement Binds light sandy soils, making them denser and more moisture-retentive. Loosens heavy clay soils, improving root system aeration.
Increased Soil Cation Exchange Capacity Increases the soil’s ability to retain nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, microelements), reducing fertilizer leaching by 25–35%.
Application rates:
- Sandy soils: 3–5 tons/ha one-time application (effect lasts 5–7 years)
- Greenhouses and nurseries: 10–15 kg/m² during substrate preparation
- Vineyards and orchards: 2–3 tons/ha at establishment
Target customers: Greenhouse complexes, vineyards, fruit orchards, ornamental plant nurseries, organic produce growers.
Carrier & Binder for Granulation
Fertilizer Granulation Bentonite is used as a binder in the production of granulated NPK fertilizers, organomineral complexes, and slow-release forms. Provides granule strength and prevents caking during storage.
Carrier for Pesticides and Herbicides The porous structure of bentonite allows adsorption of active ingredients and ensures their uniform release. Reduces product losses from rain washout by 40–50%.
Microbiological Preparations Bentonite protects beneficial bacteria and fungi (nitrogen fixers, mycorrhiza) from desiccation and UV radiation. Extends shelf life of biological products from 6 to 18 months.
Typical formulations:
- NPK fertilizers: 3–7% bentonite in granule composition
- Powdered pesticides: 10–20% bentonite as carrier
- Biological products: 30–50% bentonite in protective coating
Target customers: Mineral fertilizer producers, agrochemical plants, biological product manufacturers, organic fertilizer companies.

Benefits
Why Choose Askangel Bentonite
Advantages of Askangel Bentonite for Agriculture
High Montmorillonite Content 98.5% montmorillonite content means maximum adsorption capacity and cation exchange capacity. Competitors from Turkey, Egypt, and India offer 70–85%.
Low Crystalline Silica Content < 1% free SiO₂ — safe for animal respiratory systems and production workers. Complies with EU standards for dust fractions.
Quality Consistency Askangel controls the entire cycle: proprietary deposit → enrichment → drying → grinding. Each batch undergoes laboratory testing before shipment.
Organic Production Certificates Askangel bentonite is approved for use in organic agriculture under EU Organic standards (Regulation EC 889/2008), USDA NOP, Ecocert.
Flexible Logistics Bulk shipments (rail cars, trucks), big bags (500 kg, 1000 kg, 1250 kg), 25 kg bags. FOB Poti, DAP to your warehouse, CIF to destination port.
